IMHO plastic sux... feed lips always crack then break.

in the cold weather mine cracked after only loading 30 rounds (5 at a time :)) Imagine how fast it would fail with the pressure of a FULL mag.. lol

anyway, I avoid plastic like the plague.

there are metal ones around every once in a while but they go quick

I have 2 metal 5 round mags and neither one works worth a crap, that's why I went with the plastic ones. Never tried the pro mags in really cold weather so I can't say how reliable they would be in the cold.

I bought 3 of them a few years ago from hical (doesn't look like they have them at the moment) when they were one sale in a "3 for cheap" deal. Can't remember what I paid for them.

Couple of notes about them:

They don't work with stripper clips. The feed lips get in the way. There are people around who have modded them to make them work with stripper clips, but I never bothered, so I couldn't tell you how finicky it is to make that work.

They tend to be a bit wider than the metal mags. They fit fine in aftermarket stocks, but are a tight fit in most of the original wood stocks. I say "most" because there's so much variance in SKS's, that you never know, you might get lucky. We're not talking a huge difference here, maybe a millimetre or so. But that can mean they bind up to the point where they're almost impossible to insert/remove. For mine, I sanded down the sides of the magazines until they fit. It was only a half millimetre(ish) per side, so I wasn't too worried about weakening them.

After a few years of banging around in the range bag, bouncing around the footwell of a truck on a week long hunting trip, and generally abusing them and not caring for them whatsoever... They still work and I haven't had any failures to feed out of them.

But we're talking SKS's here... So your mileage will definitely vary when it comes to whether or not they feed properly or need fitting.
