I am looking for people who have had personal experiences with the following 5.56 barrels:

Noveske Afghan 14.5" Stainless 1:7 twist;
Rainier Arms Mountain Series CHF 14.5" Barrel NATO" 1:7 twist ;
Rainier Arms Select 14.5" Mid Barrel 1:8 twist;
Daniel Defence M4 gov't profile barrel, mid length gas, low profile gas block 1"7 twist

What do you gunnuts have to say about these? positive, negative experiences? Which one of these is a better option?

Noveske is the most expensive on the list, but if I were to go with another, a bit cheaper one would I loose a lot?

After seeing the pic of that Rainier UM barrel in that other thread, I'm staying away from those.

I've got four DD barrels... 10.3" in 300BLK, 12.5" in 5.56, 16" Gov't profile in 5.56 that came in my M4V5 and a 18" S2W barrel. I've shot sub-moa groups with the 16" and 18" S2W barrels. I've gotten 1" groups from the 10.3" and 12.5" at 50yrds but have not developed optimum loads for them plus they don't have proper glass for long range (I've got old man's vision now).

I say buy the DD and put the $300 saved over the 'veske towards a nice BCG.

This is from my last range session with my 18" S2W upper. Ignore the top left group. Fracked up my scope settings, shudda started off shooting the middle target first as another CGNer pointed out, doh!

Nice! Thank you so much for the advise. I think this is what I will most likely do. I already put my eye on one DD barrel.

CTCS has some BCM for $70.

SaskatoonGunWorks has some scratch 'n dent Aero blocks for $40. It's under a handguard, who's gonna see the scuffs.

Get the DD by far. The midlength 14.5 is amazing in accuracy and durability. DD barrels are capable of very high round count and still maintain accuracy. Don't waste your money on the noveske. Unfortunately rainier just isn't a DD so I would skip that.

Thanks for the advice, I went with the DD!

Excellent choice, I've seen DD barrels still keep going beyond 70K rounds and still maintain acceptable accuracy. They are tough as nails, I have a 14.5 DD barrel ready to go for my new build. Buy with confidence!
