14 pages of getting flamed - I'm back

"...sniper air rifle..." No such thing.
"...prohibited "sniper" rifles..." No rifle is prohibited because it may be a sniper rifle.
An SKS is a 300 yard rifle, at most.
"...looking for something to do some long distance shooting..." What do you call 'long distance'?

sniper air rifle. Please see smiley face in original post
prohibited- refferring to article I read
long distance: more than 300m. Maybe close to 1 km

I have a utg bug buster 3-9x32 scope. The zoom is decent, how much would I have to aim up on an sks for every 50 yards?

ahem, Mr Bandit86, I'm not sure you're getting the point (probably you are, but I'll be kind and put it out there for ya....

Referring to 'sniper rifles' puts me and others of a similar mind into a heckuva spot when all we want to do is make small holes in faraway targets. Sniper rifles are offensive weapons, and I already have to deal with paranoid people enough. So, no sniper rifles, please? Thanks.

So, that said, if you can find a good deal on a respectable bolt action (a friend picked up a Cooey/Winchester model 67 in .270 for 350$ at a show) that'll get you started fine.

thanx man, tight groups.

Bandit86, you win an internet, mainly because I honestly hope for the sake of humanity you're just trolling the hell out of the long distance shooters

hmmmmm........

Now I feel dirty...... but now I want to see how much one of them bolt guns is worth.....

Maybe, just maybe, the little woman would let me shoot that one in the basement, you know, to keep the skills 'sharp'

:D

Lol, lord in heaven...

Depends on where you wanna zero the gun in the first place, what ammo your using, if your shooting up or down hill and so on. More info needed

Prohibited Sniper rifles?
Just watched some old Hawaii Five-O episodes back in the 70's. Assassins were using made up M2 Carbines and Vietnam era M16's with scopes!
Of course they all have silencers on them and always leave them at the scene of the crime when they finish the job.
There ya go. ;)

He is laughing at shooter now, for being a sucker, this gut really did a great jobs, LMAO.

Good point, in the circles I used to run in (Ex Military) "long distance" would be anything 1k+.

Long distance changes with the caliber you are shooting. For a 22LR it might be 200 or 250 yards. Or a 308 might be 1000 yards and so on …

Any one have a link to his first thread?

Learn to shoot at 100 to 200 yards first.. when you've mastered it move out..

as for your scope.. You may want to invest in some decent glass..

You guys are a boring bunch!

bandit86,

First thing, get yourself a Russian sniper scope to go on your Russian designed rifle

image.php

2nd, you need to fix the scope to the rifle

YugoSniper.jpg

3rd, get yourself some sniper ammo

..

Then you could take years to train yourself and learn the skills... or you can just skip these steps and dress like one.

Next step, make your own ghilli suit
