Well, my little lady did great again this year! This is her third deer since she started hunting, coincidentally, all bucks with her muzzle loader. Becky shot this big bodied fellow this morning, 24 Oct 2010, south of Belmont, MB at around 8:30AM from approx 25 meters with her 50 cal CVA Wolf muzzle loader. She made a perfect double lung shot, the deer didn't go 25M before packing it in! She accomplished her goal again this year, to shoot one larger than last year’s buck. This guy is a beautiful symmetrical 4X4 with a wider frame and longer tines than her 2009 4X4 buck. Another proud papa moment, nothing makes me prouder!

Good job.
I don't know if I'd be able to get within 25 meters of a deer without spooking the thing.

Is it a muzzle only area or are you waiting to move her unto something more centerfire?
Nice job nonetheless.
What is that house thing in the background?

Funny you mention not getting that close to one. I watched him walk in to the small clearing we were skirting like a ghost out of the fog. He busted me right away, but surprisingly, came over to get a closer look. We had a staring contest for a solid 5 minutes, the deer at approx 25M stomping the ground the whole time, but I didn't move an inch. Every time he put his head down for a second, Becky would calmly move the M/L a little more to get in position for the shot. I couldn't believe he stayed that long, guess I'm attractive to deer:p. He finally turned broadside as if to walk away, and she dropped the hammer on him.

Muzzle loader is the only deer season open right now here in MB. She could hunt rifle, and I've given her the opportunity to on a number of occasions, but she prefers her soft coal burner. That is an old shed in the background BTW. We were hunting near an old homestead, so we dragged the deer out there for pics and cleaning. I thought it looked nice.
