I just bought a box of 140 grain Barnes MPG and would like to shoot them from my .300 savage. I have two reloading manuals and neither has a listing for 140 grain bullets for the savage. Where do I start? Somewhere between the listed loads for 130 and 150 grains?

Use the 150gr data starting a couple grains below max and work your way up.I used 42gr of Win 748 for the 150gr,41gr for the 165gr and 40gr for the 180gr out of a Sav99 and it was scary accurate..........Good luck Harold *use data at own risk

Barnes MPG bullets are powdered-metal copper-tin core inside a guilding metal jacket. They really need Barnes bullet specific data. Regular data won't work well with their bullets. Likely why they're 140 grains too. Contact Barnes at 1-800-574-9200 or email tyh@barnesbullets.com
