140gr Hornady .308 Monoflex #30311 in 30-30?

Hey guys, I just bought a new Mossberg 30-30 and some 140gr Monoflex to load it up with. Only catch is I got the 30311 for the 308 marlin instead of the 30310 as designed for the 30-30. Got them by mistake and now I can't return them. In the picture on the Hornady site the look the same except the Canular is in a different spot. Are they basically the same or is there a difference?
I'll be attempting to contact Hornady about this to find out for sure.
What's everyone using in there 30-30 loads?

I loaded some 30-30 last year for a friend who was shooting a Winchester '94 Carbine. My notes tell me they were 160 gr FTX (30395); COL: 2.550"; 29.0 gr IMR4895; 2,000 fps
 
They are different bullets in two ways: they have slightly different profiles; and the crimp grooves are in different places. The use of the 30311 in a 30-30 will not be unsafe, but it will be seated such that the crimp grooves will be in the neck. Not a big deal IMO.

Just crimp it with the Lee factory Crimp , then you don't need to use the cannelure. Seat it to the depth you need, and make your own "cannelure" using the crimp die.

This is they way I would proceed to use up the bullets, and buy the correct ones next time. All good! Hornady will tell you to use the correcct bullets.
 
Hornady said I could use them but would have to single feed them if I were to crimp at the cannular. He also said they are anealed to a different hardness cause they are designed for the higher powered 308 marlin.
So I guess I pretty much got my answer.
Gonna be an expensive plinking bullet, but not a total waste.

I made that mistake a couple years ago with the regular FTX bullets, not GMX, and found that for the bullets to be seated deep enough to cycle in the action the case rim was being crimped on the cannalure. A really bad idea in a tube mag.
In one 30-30 (my dads bolt action) the throat was too short to fit them if I crimped at the cannalure even if I single fed them.
 
I contacted Hornady Manufacturing Techincial Support via email with this exact question. This was their response "This bullet will expand at 2000fps impact velocity. Also the max velocity is listed at 3000fps." So I'm shooting it in my Savage 340E .30-30 and based on my loads I have 2000fps at 190yds. So I'm good to 190yds with the .308 Marlin Monoflex bullets from my .30-30.
