I didn't see a recipe for these bullets in Lee's modern reloading, for anyone searching down the road, I am trying 3.9 gn Win 231 with an OAL of 1.105".

These are the 147 gn RN CMJ bullets from Marstar.

Max load for lead 147 gn was 3.5 gn so I hiked it up a bit - might be a bit hot, but I'll compare to some BDX 124 gn TM's to compare the recoil.

I loaded 25 rounds and will try them out tonight.

Update coming.

I have been using 147gr CMJ frontier (last year) and now AIM 147gr CMJ, over 4.0grs of HP-38 (same as W231) OAL 1.145 (feeds better in my gun) and have no problems. Cronos at about 950 fps. Shot about 3500 out of my STI Trojan last year and have put about 1500 through my STI Tactical so far this year. Only weakness in the equation is me. Also there is a load for 147 gr lead in the Lee manual, which calls for OAL 1.135 (don't have the book in front of me, so don't quote me).

My data. 147Gr West Coast CMJ RN.

with TightGroup;
1.140 OAL 3.5gr FPS - 930 average in 20C weather.

With HS6;
1.135 OAL 5.2gr FPS 888 in 0C weather and 960 in 20C weather.

I shot these out of my Glock 19, SIG 226 and STI Ranger II. Good load, not to snappy, nice to plink with and shoot all day.

Cheers

Bleh - wasn't so sure about the OAL, but at 1.105" I had no problems out of my G17. Recoil was comparable to 124gn BDX, accuracy out to 25m was all me.
