Wanted to load some 148 gr Campro wad cutters with win 231 just wondering how much powder you guys are around? CamPro doesn't list the load data, lots of differences in charge weight in my books. Was thinking starting off around 3 grains.

I use 3.2 gr with very soft BDX bullets so you will have to experiment. You probably want something in the high 700 fps range.

4 grains of HP 38/Win 231 is what I load. Another good powder is Bullseye. Nothing is better than these two powders for wadcutters, in my opinion.

3.6 gr of HP38 with the 148 gr copper plated HBWC out a 4 inch barrel gives me an average of 715 fps.

Remember that Campro bullets should be loaded using jacketed data, not cast or swaged lead. Go too light on the powder, and risk sticking one in the tube. Can ruin your day.

Try 3 to 4 gr of titegroup. You can load them flush, or sticking out 1/10th of an inch. Try both and see if there is any accuracy difference.

You can also load some upside down, for a huge hollow point. 2 scoops of Blue Dot.

3 gr of titegroup will yield about 725 fps loaded flush. W231/HP38 is the more classic 38 Special powder. I reload LHBWC with 3.1 gr of W231/HP38 with good results. As I am moving away from lead, the campro 148 gr HBWC fits the bill with 3.6 gr of W231/HP38, and are accurate if I do my part

3.5 grains of win231 with a heavy crimp, that's the information I received from CamPro. If you give me your e-mail I can send you the complete document from CamPro.
