$15,000 worth of SAR lifesaving gear stolen and damaged in Hanes Valley BC...

Wow, your attitude is just... wow.

It would be your fault if some low life went and took your stuff? Whether your doors are locked or not, your stuff is your stuff and not for the taking by some random stranger. I should be able to leave my doors unlocked and windows open and be able to return to my vehicle and/ or dwelling without it being touched or disturbed. If it is, that is not, ever, my fault because no one had any right whatsoever to go in and take something in the first place without my permission.

It's no wonder thieves get away with their "lifestyle", even when caught, considering their (potential) victims will just be blaming themselves instead of them.

It's like the police telling us that we should be vigilant and never leave our doors unlocked and windows open... how about telling scum to keep their fingers out of things that don't belong to them? Too difficult?

I guess I'm a little pissed off that the gear that is paid for by donations from folks like my wife and I has been stolen from a container that would have been easily fortified to prevent such theft. what concerns me even more is all the media coverage of London drugs replacing the stuff and global news showing the thieves exactly what gear is going back in those caches...... brilliant. I don't do much donating , but north shore search and rescue is one we added to our list 7 years ago when my wife and I got married. so ya, I'm a little p.o'd that more care was not taken to protect that gear.
my apologies if my comments have rubbed you guys the wrong way. I've also been the victim of theft..... home invaded, hog tied, beaten and stabbed in the lower left abdomen, thru n thru...... because my guns were too securely stored and I would not give up access :D so one could say, yes, I've had the full lowermainland experience and survived ;)

Why is this in the hunting forum?

Maybe the hunting forum is the perfect place. The location of that stash makes the thieves' escape path very constrained. As others have mentioned the bait is now widely known. Leaving out weapons/violence for obvious reasons, this might be an excellent and very pro-social sporting opportunity. Truth be known, for me at least this is only partly in jest.

So, it appears that this threat should not have been started in the hunting section....
So, to any of the mods who are reading this move it or delete it.
Just thought that as Hunters we might be interested in what is happening in the back woods ...even if it just a three hour hike into the Lynn Canyon Headwaters....

Someone just stole the OPP boat from the dock in Port Stanley a couple nights ago and set it on fire on the lake.

I am suspecting by the other damage this person or persons have a grudge against the group. Tim Jones was known to step on toes and who knows it may be a Tim Jones fan who's pissed with way things are changing from his vision.

you mean like an inside job by a disgruntled person(s) ..... or someone who knew of the contents via a member/ex member. I can't see it being a bunch of gangly drug fiends but ya never know. I suppose they must have some types of pharmaceuticals in the med kits for stabilizing trauma patients during rescues. hopefully they get some results from the fingerprint stuff they were collecting
