$1500 burning a hole in my pocket

Excellent. Thanks for the info. I’m going to check that out right away.
Had a quick peek around for a muzzle brake/compensator thinking I’d grab one to give it a try but one in M14/1 thread has been a bit hard to find. Tikka/Sako has one available but tough to say if it would fit.

I bet Wolverine can order you a compensator. Order the beech stock soon. Now that I posted the link, someone will be quick to buy it. Nice stocks too.

I looked at the Vanguard pretty hard. Checked it out in store at the same time as the Mark V and just couldn’t take the Vanguard home. I would’ve like to check out the Bergara locally but there were none around.

I grabbed that Ranger stock before it was too late, thanks for the lead The Kurgen!!!

Basically, you have the trials Ranger now. If you want sights, I would track down an NECG rear peep sight which installs on the Picatinny rail and order a 557 front sight assembly from Wolverine, which will need a few hours of a gunsmith's time. Of course, you really don't need sights if you attach an appropriate scope and sights can catch on sh!t in the bush anyway. Enjoy.

Looks like you have a decision but I just wanted to add I handled a Kimber 84m today and thought it was unbelievably light. First time I remember seeing one. It was a 308 and had a muzzle brake. Wondering if it is a good option

Indeed it will. The 557's are smooth operators and about as accurate as the Tikka T3x, but with some character and no plastic.

I'm turning my 243 Lux into a sort of Range rifle. I ordered an EGW 20 MOA Picatinny rail and a factory synthetic Range stock. It's very light and handy with the 20 inch barrel and the Minox RV-1 red dot. A real keeper.
