Hey guys,

Now that ORPS production rules will be $1500/$1600 USD MSRP, (rifle and scope combined) it looks like it’s opening up some rifles that were previously omitted from the production class last year. My club is running several events this year and I’m excited for it.

CZ 457 ProVarmint seems like the one to beat at $699 USD MSRP.
Leaves $800 for glass which combined will certainly be capable of outshooting me.

So, with that in mind, what are you building for $1500/$1600 USD MSRP?

Let’s hear some opinions.

Good choice!
I heard both $1500 and $1600, (PRS does say $1600).

Either way it seems like a better way of selection vs. the previous rules and opens up more choices on gear.

Nice! The podcast is where I heard $1500. But it was a few months back. No big deal.

The Athlon Midas Tac is perfect. Hard to beat at $900 I think.

Technically you would need to provide the MSRP at time of purchase and proof of purchase at that date.
At least that is my interpretation of the rule, it is outlined for “rifle” specifically but I don’t see why it wouldn’t apply to optics.

Ultimately the match director is responsible for agreeing and regulating the use of it in production class.

See here…. Bottom of page 10/top of 11.

i was thinking about competeing this year. CZ 457 Synthetic MTR, Riton 6-24x50 600.00 for the rifle, 300.00 for the barrel and 500.00 in for the glass. good to go i think with room to spare…

I’m curious if there will be a lot of top shooters going to production class. There is a lot of skill involved in being competitive overall, often almost independent of the gear, assuming it’s reasonably accurate.

Replacing the barrel would put you out of production class. Pretty much need to shoot the rifle stock with a few small mods allowed not related to chamber or barrel changing trigger or stock, etc.

I would suggest you consider the Helos BTR Gen2 6-24X56 Mil... even less money and better glass. This is the scope that will be on my rifles

FYI, the midas Tac Gen2 has the newer glass like the helos g2. The reg tac has the last gen lenses.... great scope but Athlon keeps improving stuff.

Good to hear. I say just go for it. Honestly there's not much glory in staying within the Production rules. I'd rather shoot the rifle I like in Open, than the one I'm luke-warm with in Production. If you want to run the aftermarket or MTR barrel, just do it (and declare the appropriate division when you register).
