Hey fellas , I went looking for .358 projectiles since i blasted most them away on the NT trip but was unable to walk away from Town with any so i bit the bullet an got setup to reload the 308.

I walked away with Lee dies and Nosler ABs in 150gr.
Will be using Federal brass, Fed primers, 2208

Whats your experience with ABs an whats your Per load?

Im shooting out of a Tikka T3!

thank you

WL

Hello from North Bay, Ontario...Nosler Accubond 150 gr. Are my favourite whitetail bullets. I use Lapua brass, CCI Match primers, IMR 3031 Powder, a gr. Less than Max. I'm shooting a Cooper Rebarreled with a Scultz and Larsen Match barrel, profiled to original Cooper size.

WL.........I tried a bunch of powders and loads in my Ruger RSI using Nosler 150 SB and settled on IMR 4064, CCI 200, W-W brass...........she shoots good now with acceptable velocities. My son got a good load using RL 15 and the same bullet in his significant others 308. I think he uses R-P brass and CCI 200 as well.

I loaded up AR2208 in RP brass with Fed primers an ABs, my OAL is 2.820 which fits magazine an cycles no worries etc, no sign of rifleing etc..

should I push them back to 2.800? or no stress there?

Also is Highland brass ####t to reload? I ran some thru FLS an had the shoulders crack around the case..... so that's why switched to RP again.

WL; Is that 2208 the same as our Varget? Not too sure about the ADI powder designations. :)

If so, it should work well with the 308/150 combination. I have had great success with Reloder 15 and the 150's in both my
300 Savage and my 308. [similar case capacities] IIRC, I am using around 45/46 grains of RL15 behind both the 150 AB and the 150 Partition.

As for the COL of your loads, if they are OK in your magazine, and do not engage the rifling, they should work fine.
I would not make them shorter unless I had real reason to do so.

I know nothing about the Highland brass, since I have never seen it here. I have a marked preference for Lapua [Finland] or Winchester [USA] for my loading.

Regards, Dave.

Eagleeye I was just about to edit that to say 2208 is indeed Varget!

the Highland is PPU which Is headstamped nny or so....

I actually struck it lucky an raided my mates floor of hes ute an found 10 RP cases too add to my collection :)

Thanks for the info regarding Coal!

Im about to have some Lunch an go set up the Target at 100m, see how this load performs!

Thought I was onto a winner, I dropped a bullet an snapped the plastic tip off so used it as a tester, it shot slightly higher than the following 2 rounds which touched, 1 inch above the Crosshairs, then the 4th shot went same height as 1st but 2 inch Right... Dammit. shots felt good

Going to Try 44gr now and see if that eliminates the flyer.

WL

Im going to stick with 44gr of Varget/2208 for now, I printed a slightly bigger than 1 MOA group @ 100m, the last shot I was a bit interrupted by the Cattle So im sure I could of closed that up a little more.

So that's a Start load for ADI manuals..with 150gr projectiles.

All shots were vertically the same, just a Horizontal difference to the Right , Being Left handed an Im sure the Trigger isn't on its lightest setting, that makes sense to me.

Im going to be retrieving a Trail Camera in the morning, The Sambar are rutting so without expecting too much, I should get a shot at a Critter.

Cheers

The loads an bullet worked a treat yesterday, 60m shoulder shot an found on opposite side, in my book that's 100% penetration

I havent tried AB's but every 150gr bullet I have tried in my .308's has done very well with 45gr Varget, CCI 200's and that's either in Fed or Win brass. I normally use 2.8" OAL for eveything.
