I just acquired a box of 154 grain Lapua Scenars. I know that they are a long distance match bullet, but does anybody load these for their Norinco
M14? I'd like to know if this is doable and if so, what recipes anyone has tried. Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure your M-305 is going to love these.
All semi-auto rifles tend to prefer medium weight bullets. Scenars are cream of the crop as far as I know and if you can afford them to try some precision loads, go for it!
At least, you won't have any excuse if your rifle doesn't group!:p

154 Scenars are superb bullets. They don't have a crimp groove though, so just watch that the bullets don't jump foreward when the breech closes.

That would be like putting racing fuel in a Pinto:p The 154 Scenars are a great long range bullet but unless you are shooting a long range match, why?
I think any match bullet would be equal to it out to about 600 yards, passed that is were the Scenars are worth the extra cost.

Thanks for the input, guys. I've always heard talk of scenars when shooting waaay out. Good point about the canelure, or lack of one. Well I've also got an LTR, so I can always try feeding some down that tube. I'll let you know how it goes, when I get around to pulling the trigger.

I loaded up some Sierra 155 match for a Norc 305 last weekend, crimped them with the factory crimp die. They shot 1 1/2" or better groups easy. I would not normally use expensive bullets in the 305 but they don't work in my Savage so the 305 got to eat them.
