I have a 16 ga. Husqvarna underlever on its way, from Trade Ex Canada.

I need help locating components, etc. in Canada. I have the magtech brass coming from Kerry Jenkinson. Fibre wads are on order from Thunder Ridge. (I needed some C&B nips as well!) I do know how to shorten cases, and roll crimp.

Does anyone have Remington black hulls for sale?

Does anyone have a used 16 ga. reloader FS?

I load 2/1/2" and 2" ammo for 12,16 and 20 ga and I have had much better success useing a cut plasic hull and a good roll crimp. I have the old style roll crimpers for all three gauges, 12 and 16's are inexpensive and fairly easy to find at gun shows or antique markets and I find work much better than the modern ones. The roll crimp allows you to use plastic wads and still have the case capacity for normal 1oz or 1/1/8oz loads and there is no need to skive the case mouths. Good Luck.

I load a lot of 16 ga, usually get my components from Will Bilozir in Alberta. He stocks the Ballistic products stuff and shoots 16 ga. himself. A very good resource for a new 16 ga owner in the 16 ga. society, at 16ga.com and their reloading group. They have a special "low pressure" reloading group who are very good at sharing properly tested recipes for nice old short chambered guns. It will cost a nominal fee to join.
I have a 16 ga. lee load-all that I don't use any more since I bought my Mec. I also have an antique 16 ga. roll crimper laying around somewhere. PM me if you're interested. good luck!

forgive my ignorance... but I have just "inherited" a 16GA 2 1/2" shotgun from my dad... is this ammo even available commercially? If not, can a gunsmith lengthen the chamber?

Gamebore 2 1/2in shells for 12, 16 ,410 ( not sure about 20) are available at http://ellwoodepps.com in the ammunition section.

One may not always find Gamebore products readily available at Epps. Having said that, one could always place an order with them. Last time I checked (some months back) they only had some 12ga Pure Gold 2-1/2 inch.

Another source to check (if you are in ON) would be Les Paul/Gunsmith....I got some 16ga shells from him some months back.

Suggest also check with FASTEEL, Straightshooter, Sharptail (CGN members)....for sources out West.

Ebruder; Think carefully about the implications of changing the chamber in an old gun. And then, don t do it.

If you are a handloader, it is fairly simple to make short ammo.
1. Cut your cases to 2.5 in
2. after filling the case with the corrct powder, wads, and shot, place an overshot card on top.
3. Crimp on your regular loader.

The result is something like a roll crimp. I call it the JAM ROLL. The remaining case is folded into the OS wad by the crimp die in an open star pattern.

Thanks for the help Pards. I have ordered some cases, wads. and a crimp starter from Bilozir

I have my 16 ga. Husqvarna model 17, made between 1890 & 1895. It is very nice. A hint of engraving and very pretty wood. I may christen her JENNY after Jenny Lind The Swedish Nightingale.

I am still looking for a loader. Does anyone have a MEC Junior in 16 gauge. I,d be very interested.

Grab a 12 guage 600JR ( or any other guage) and contact either Ballistics products in the staes, or Will Bilozir himslf (403) 938 6066.
Will can supply you with the adapter kit and componants to load 2 1/2" 16's.
he has wads, hulls, sizing cutters, etc .

Fasteel is the Kent rep. He was kind enough to bring in an order of 2 1/2 Gamebore when we were looking for supply before the hunting season. I would imagine that any Kent dealers in Canada would have access to the ammunition he brought in, but I know for a fact that a pallet of it went to P&D in Edmonton. I bought a flat each of 12, 16, and 20 gauge.

If you're out west and you're looking for 2 1/2, try calling P&D as a starting point. I have also seen Gamebore black powder shells in 2 1/2 at Pro Line in Calgary (12 gauge only), for anyone looking for those.

If you don't find any readily available in stock, send Fasteel a PM and he'll let you know where you can find them, or when the next shipment is expected.

CATNTHEHAT, I,ll call Will. MECs website quotes $100 for the conversion kit. Maybe I will try it as I have a Junior unused since I got a Grabber.
