Me too. Also still have some original flats of very year old new 16ga winchester compression formed aa's hulls and probally a few hundred once fired that I reload. Those puppies are gold today.:)

I just bought a case of Winchester game loads in the exchange for 130.00 SHIPPED. My local sports store owner ( town of 3000, one shop VERY small) routinely orders cases of RIO 16 ga ammo for me. (Federal Steel loads too) Even our local home hardware stocks 16 ga ammo, albeit it is 1 1/4 OZ #4 lead. Ammo is not a problem. As noted in ealier post I am always on the look out for 16 bore shells. You would be surprised what you can find when you look for it.

Just a personal thing, but I really feel multichokes in a hunting gun aren't necessary. I have a couple of pump guns that have multichokes and have never been changed from modified . Hunters got along for a couple hundred years without multichokes. There are thousands of hunters still using older guns whether they be pump, doubles or single shots that don't have multichokes. But like I said, it becomes a personal "must have".

I agree to a point. I use the mod 90% of the time in my semi for ducks, geese, SC, but it's nice to be able to change to a full when I'm hunting turkeys instead of having another gun for 2 weeks a year. It's also fun to screw in a cylinder once in a while and hunt some ponds and small water and not mangle up the birds up close.
 
Another one here who thinks that multichokes are great in theory, they just never get changed in my guns.
I have idly thought about buying another Modified choke for the Citori that goes waterfowl hunting, but do I need it - not really. IC and Mod chokes pretty well fill the bill with steel shot for me.
My 20 ga sidelock SxS shotgun is closer to Skeet and Mod chokes - just about perfect for an Upland gun IMHO.
I don't need a 16 gauge but a well proportioned 16, made on a lighter frame is surely a handsome gun.

Sherlock, you say that like having another gun is a BAD thing. I'm always trying to think up excuses for why I have to buy another one. LOL

For me if it was a nice vintage gun choke tubes would not matter, however a new gun I think it is a must from the point of view of resale only. Buyers today want the tubes regardless if needed or not.
 
To me the best advantage of the 16 is the beautiful round patterns that they through. Never owned a 12 or 20 that would even come close to the patterns from a quality 16.
 
My CZ Bobwhite 16 bore is choked MOD and IMP CYL fixed. A FULL choke is useless unless Turkey hunting. I spin a MOD into my Baikal MP 153 12 bore and throw away the wrench come waterfowl time. The different screw in chokes are versatile, but that becomes less of a virtue when only one guns employs them. ie: the IMP CYL on my Baikal big 12 bore 3.5" chambered shotgun it is NOT an upland gun. I will allow ridicule from members who shoot soft no tox from vintage scatterguns choked FULL.

...nope, nothing more useless than a full choked sub gauge IMO...
 
I love being able to choke my O/U guns at IC/IC for the thick cover work but in reality IC/M is darn near as effective as how often does the second shot connect in thick timber 20 yd shot type scenarios. The 16 does intrigue the hell out of me and I do have a couple of sweet Citoris in 12 & 20.

Humm could always put out some extra bucks and complete your set of brownings with one of those rare sweet citoris 16ga 's Clay at prophet river has reduced.:)

For my 16 I use a MOD and IMP CYL and looking for some nice chokes for my 410 in the same , if you here any for sale) My 16 is the same as the one Clay is selling, a very nice gun, shots high like most O/U compared to S/S but easy to swing.....

If the 410 just has the standard invector order what you want direct from Briley in the US. That is where I got mine and no problem shipping to canada. They show nine available from cylinder .000 to extra full .020 for the 410 in flush mount. :)
 
I've owned a Winchester sxs 16 ga for years and it's all I use for upland. I've even picked up a box of non-toxic Hevi-shot with the intentions of taking it on a duck hunt and leaving the 12 ga at home. Ammo has never been much of a problem to get, however not much selection is availble in my area.
