Just looking for pet loads. I'm stocking up on a few components since Cabelas is having a sale. I've been looking for a load that really sings in my new tikka and haven't had the best luck with the 160gr range so I thought I would try these. I've got it shooting 140g ttsx quite nicely but slower than I had hoped. I'm hoping to get these 162's close to 3000fps but the way this rifle is looking it might be a sloth. What would be a good powder to start with? I'm thinking retumbo since rl22 is unobtainable.

Try H1000, 7828, H4831. You might have your work
cut out for you trying to shoot high BC bullets out of a short mag box, but that doesn't mean it can't happen. The Barnes thrive on long jumps.

Retumbo is my go to for 162 hornady's in my 7rem mags a near max load in my 700 sendero gets me 3062fps avg out of a 26 inch tube. After proper work ups the same load keeps coming up with the different bullets, a-max,eld-x,sst.

With that tikka mag you will have to single feed to get them anywhere close to the lands. I have a 7mm-08 with a long action mag just to get the 162's near the lands.

Just got back from the range. Very pleased with these bullets. Finally got some velocity out of the tikka. I got these 162's humming along at 2980fps and .7" groups at 100. No signs of pressure either. I was using fed primers but they showed so much pressure I was afraid to push it any harder but I switched to cci primers and was able to go over Max listed loads to get the fps I am after and showing no signs of pressure.

Ive been using RE22 and fed 215M primers with excellent results

I have a older tikka M65, factory barrel,

its shooting sub moa out to 300, warmer weather will bring the disstance trials amd ladder tuning
