165 gr accubond for moose

I killed one with a Ford Explorer. The Explorer was mortally wounded too though. Nice thing of it is that the moose didn't go to waste. A couple of skunked hunters were able to take her home after the appropriate calls to FW. Sorry for the hijack. :slap:

Moral of the story...

Moose wont let friends drive fords....:D:D:D:D:D:D

I know a lady up here in the Yukon who hunted for years with a .243 loaded with 100 grainers and year after year took everything in the Yukon (except Polar bears) with it, at ranges out past 300 yards. She knew where to shoot and how to hit what she was aiming at. 165 grain Accubonds will kill you anything in North America out of your rifle if you hit it where it counts.

Some guys get way too caught up in the infinite academics of rifle and cartridge subtleties, but the moose don't care.

OKOK #1 NO ford bashing aloud, not my fault your right handed and own a jerk-o-matic rifle and drive a tabaco can import you WEENER

and #2 NO the 458 and me have since parted D, I now have fun with my 300 wm, looking for another 375 slowly but being fussy this time thinking about a R93 blasser (so I can take the barrel off and whack foxer upside the melon for getting lippy online!)

now back to the thread I see your point D but a 165 will blow through both shoulders out to 250 yards as well, and realy I shoot 90% of my moose at 100 or less yards, hell I shot that 1 with the 458 at 25 yards if that

oh and daryl and redd, I guess I can be left handed/own a ford and a bolt gun afterall I dont have a automatic deer rifle nor live out EAST :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D........probably drive chevies out there to, guess its cuzz you cant aFORD a real truck after buying all that deer ammo :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

(so I can take the barrel off and whack foxer upside the melon for getting lippy online!)

With all the demand for it it's a wonder more manufacturers don't make that a standard feature these days :D

Too bad, I always got a kick out of the pic you posted (couple years back) with a bull moose that had about 2 gallons of blood on the ground, that the .458WM had let out of it...

well that was a good hunt that 1 and 1 not soon forgoten haha, what happens when you get a couple horny young bulls and a cow in heatand a redneck with a cannon for a rifle, for those that dont know this was a 458 win mag 510Gr bullet @ aprox 20-25 yards on the run about 3 minutes after we did a cow call , the truck in the pick is NOT mine it was a budies guide truck who I was yacking with when we heard the bulls start grunting and fighting about 50 yards in the bush from the 2 trucks

this bull was shot with a 140Gr bullet @ aprox 250 yards and was a clean pass through

this #4 book Boo was shot at 270+ yards with a 257WBY with a 120Gr bullet

I probably have another dozen pics of big game dropped with less than 180Gr lead and a few dropped with small cannon balls :D:D

The only thing that will down a moose is a well placed shot at a realistic distance. Stick with what you are comfortable with.
