165gr in 308

"Close range"? Speer manual #14 with 22" and Nosler #7manual with 24" put 165 SP at 2,800 fps. Been doing the RL15 in a 22" M70 Winchester for many years, Shooting Chrono confirms the 2,800 muzzle velocity. Nosler recommends 1,800 fps minimum for Partitions as per the information on the Nosler bullet box. A 165 @ 2,800 muzzle apparently has 1,801 fps at 500 yards. Not at all a "short range" for white tail, mule deer and most every hunter that I know. Just saying.
 
Yes, I drive them out of any of my 30-06 rifles at 2950 or a bit more, so not really short range stuff, lol.

But, compared to the LRAB, perhaps a bit shy in the trajectory dept.

years and years ago..............

I bought 4 bags of Remington core lock bullets from wholesale sports for 169.oo a bag of 1000.............I'll be okay for a while yet..........
