Anybody try this with good results???

What kinda of distance are you still maintaining accuracy??

Finally had some decent weather so went to see what the 168's would do.

I tried H4350 and W760 , the shown results are the H4350 with 41,42 and 43 grains, an OAL of 2.785", Lapua brass, and BR2 primers.The W760 just didn't put the groups together so I didn't post the results.

For the life of me I couldn't explain the flier , all shots felt good and clean from my end. I am going to go with the 42 grain load @2624ft/sec as the 4 shots measured .194".

I was afraid I wouldn't get good enough velocities but I am happy with the results were.I did have some loads hit 2740ft/sec with no signs of pressure but didn't group as nice.

Hopefully they will stay together at distance for me.Any suggestions are very welcome.

The day was about 20C and mild wind.100 yard target distance, with front rest and rear bag.

I had better results with WW748 & IMR4320 than WW760 with the 168 Sierra, the velocities were not where you are, But, it was also a 22" barrel. I'd also be tempted to try Varget for it, it seems to be pretty consistent in the 308 based cases. But, before you run out and do that, I'd try a few more sessions with what you have first, it looks interesting.
 
I now do nothing but put my new loads on paper @ 100 for zeroing purposes. From there I do all my load testing at 350 yrs @ my local range. If you are confident in your form and shooting I think it really helps tell you what a long range round will do for you.

I am just in the process of loading for a new 700 7-08 as well, I'll post my data once I have some, but at this point I'm hoping to use Varget and 140 gr ttsx.

ABSOLUTELY.

I test at 200yds but keep an eye on the wind as you are testing the load NOT necessarily your ability to dope winds.

I gave up testing at 100yds for LR loads when a hummer load wouldn't hit a piece of paper at 500yds due to vertical stringing. Retuning at 200yds produced a load that was not as accurate but was consistent and it proved superb out beyond 1000yds.

300yds is where my loads are confirmed. Because of where I shoot, winds are horrid so testing for pure accuracy is rare. BUT if a load is good, you can drive it and you will hit your target in a predictable manner.

Then I just crank up on the scope and can go out as far as I want to confirm.

A good LR load works reliably at extended distance without vertical dispersion. Best test is range, dial, shoot and hit. A few shots can miss left or right as that is due to wind.

BUT if the shots land short or go long in a random fashion, either the scope is toast, load sucks, or you have massive head/tailwinds you are not accounting for.

Mostly it is the load.
