16ga shotgun reloading

No, I haven't tried the Claybuster 7/8 wads - are they any better fit than the 1 ounce AA clone, or the same skirt diameter?

I have been shooting 1 ounce of #8 or #9 from my 16 gauge, at Sporting Clays.

No Idea. I don't have any yet and not sure if in canada. just thinking if they work would be perfect for your target loads
Cheers

The claybuster wads are advertised as a 'clone" of the Winchester wads. No reason to think they are any different dimensionally.

I might be wrong but seem to recall guys saying on 16ga com the gas seal cup that seals the powder is slightly different .
See what google says and will get back
Take care

Ok I was wrong. They were going to change the cup but didnot Sorry. From others

I would have no complaints if the wad had been billed as an exact WAA16 replacement wad. Then I would have known what I was getting.

But, the wad was supposed to have been modified...the gas seal flared more...to allow it to work in the straight walled hulls. That is what bothers me. It will still work in a straight walled hull...but it is not tight.

I have the bulged barrel to prove it, yes, that claybuster was is made for the CF tapered case, and not for any straight walled hull. Powder will leak past the gas check and you will have bloopers. I was loading Universal, it leaks past.

I have a LEE Load All II in 16 and I wouldn't recommend buying it. I also would not get the 600 Jr. IMHO the Sizemaster is the way to go. I have one in 20 and another in 410. I have a set of dies for 12 as well. I still load my 12 on a 600 Jr, but am seriously thinking about an upgrade.

Also, IMHO, the adjustable bar is only OK in some scenarios, I've sold off all but one of mine. It works OK for 410. 410 is a fiddly shell to load, I just bought ammo after a while. I don't own a 410 now, and I own 2 410 reloaders. One is a vintage Redding that is almost LN, I should sell it, and was going to put it on the table at the next gunshow, that is now cancelled.

I loaded with the BP wad, the SG16S, and used either Universal or Unique. My game was yard vermin and the load did it's part.

I have a Winchester 1897 in 16 ga and it has a 2 9/16 chamber. I'm still looking for a hull that will roll crimp properly. Shortening the hulls is easy, getting a good roll crimp has not been as easy.

My next hull to try is a Fiocchi, Cheddites were a bust, of all things the brass turns on the hull, so the Russian roll crimper I bought does not work.

I have a LEE Loader in 16, I prefer it to my Load All.

I'm half tempted to go old school, and just use card and fiber wads.

that lee loader must be one of the first produced both mine in 12ga and 10ga don't say anything about black powder. if you are going to use card wads use a straight walled hull and use data that's not high pressure to sub in card.

LOL I was thinking the exact same thing. I think Mary and Joseph bought that one for jesus when he was a boy :)
But hey if it works to each their own
Take care

mine are from 64 and 65 my 10ga set is all steel while the rammer on my 12ga set is plastic. I also didn't get a shot scoop with my 12ga set but it included a new yellow 4.3cc dipper and that measures out about 7/8oz of shot. I got them mainly for playing around since I have 2 mec's but the 10ga 2 7/8" may come in handy if I ever get my hands on a Winchester 1901.
