.17 Build

I've decided I'm going to build (more like customize, really) a .17 HMR rifle. What's the best rifle to use as a base. What I'm thinking is changing out the barrel for a NR bull barrel and adding a tacticool stock. Why? Because I can. Anything available in .17, or should I stick with .22LR?

Nothing to add...other than I've wondered about this before myself. Every time I look at a Savage Mark II FV-SR, I think about how cool that rifle would be in HMR.

The best base is a Savage FV or FVSS.

"hoytcanon" as always you have some beautiful rimfires.

I am assuming the Savage rimfires are a "press and pinned" barrel system. How easy is it to install a match grade barrel? Who does it?

Buy the CZ455 Trainer model with the Manners stock, then drop in the .17 barrel

Or conversely buy a CZ455 in .17 then buy the Manners stock separately.

Nether option is exactly cheap, but it will be cool.

i have a savage tr mk2 in 22 and i just built a savage mod 93r17 tr in 17 hmr. haven't sighted it in yet. just got it back from cobra imaging. had the gun coated with a base coat of cobra grip and then dipped in digital A-TACS. pics on the way. has tr sr rail, leopold mk4 rings, bushnell elite 6500. harris bipod and mono pod
