Goodday all,

I'm curious, does anyone know what the cheaper option would be? Getting a .17 cal barrel blank somehow, or getting the .17 cal barrel liner from Brownells, and doing the external lathe work on a tube to put it in?

Just open for input, how much would a barrel blank in .17 cost?

Seeing as how no one is replying to your thread, here are some things to think about ;)

Your best bet (on the cheaper end anyway) would probably be GM (green mountain) line of barrels. I am not 100% sure they make barrel blanks but they do make barrels for the 10/22 and 77/22 that could probably be fitted to other guns with a bit of work. These can be found for around $120US or so. I have a GM barrel on my Ruger 10/22 and so far I have been very impressed. Very accurate, reliable, and was a good price.

Lothar Walther makes barrel blanks for around $220 US http: //www.lothar-walther.de/html/378.php but I am not sure if you would be able to get one in Canada ?

Other than that I am not sure of any cheaper barrel blanks available. I think lilja makes one but that would cost around $450-$500 - probably a bit more than you are wanting to pay ;).

Jordan
