anybody heard anything about the 17 fireball. i'm kind of surprised they didn't just make a 20 cal since it seems to be the rage right now. if it weren't for my bad ears, i'd be mighty tempted to get a .204 ruger, anybody have any thoughts on that cart?

i suppose nobody's going to make a .20 hornet:D , i bet that would be a nice magpie remover!

Thats what most people are saying!

Sounds to me like most people prefer it over the .17 rem on other forum's...............I personnally would stick with the .204 ruger. At least Nosler is making brass and I doubt that they will be for the .17 FB. Loading for .17's can be a bit of a pain too. IMHO

.204 Ruger is awesome. Get some earplugs and plop some muffs on top and have fun. No louder than a hot .223 IMHO. Less heat, more speed. Perfect for the little critters. I don't think the popularity of .204 is going to drop off like many other intermediate or niche cartridges. It is easier to load than .17, better shooter than .22 and great fun all round. :)

that 17 fireball sounds interesting, last 17 i had was an hmr and it was a dud for killing power compared to my 22 mag. i suppose the 17 fireball would be a good killer for magpies and such. a .20 fireball, now that would have been interesting. perhaps i may just get the .221 yet, or stick with the hornet

The .17 fireball is a cool cartridge...and might be nice to have just for the sake of having it...but the .204 trumps it IMO.
