Does a .17 hmr have enough energy to efficiently cycle a full auto blowback action?

no specific firearm..just in general, say a sten gun

The .17 HMR is a fast little round but it is a very light bullet.

From what I remember of physics, the energy at one end is a result of the energy at the other end .
On something like a sten, the bolt is way to heavy to be blown back by a little .17 HMR.

Now, if you lighten some of the components, you have a better chance of fully cycling. Or get a custom-built one:
