Sorry for the fuzzy pics. Crappy cell phone camera!
My shooting was done indoors, and the gun is a Marlin 917VS with a Simmons 3-9x 22MAG scope.
The only gripe I have with this rig is the CRAP trigger, and I need a bigger scope. Felt like pulling on a bent nail when squeezing the trigger. The stray shot at 50yds was my fault.

I haven't heard of one yet that doesn't shoot good....I have a Savage/Stevens model 30 "favourite" single shot...and I can't believe how accurate it is!!! Good shooting!!

What's with the 25 & 50 yards? The HMR is a 200 yard gun. My Savage easily shoots 1/2" groups at 100 yards with the 17gr VMAX's. It doesn't care for the CCI TNT HP's, doing ~1" at 100.

Well, considering the indoor range ony went to 50yds....

A bit a polishing may help, and lighter springs. Also bedding/floating a real good idea. :)

I have read about guys tinkering with the trigger, but I don't feel comfortable in doing this. I'd rather spent $80, than risk an accidental discharge

The barrel is already free-floated. Just needs a better trigger and a bigger scope :D

I worked on my Marlin 917 trigger and brought it down to about 2.5 pounds, with no creep (down from about 5). I just changed the trigger spring and the seer spring. Worked great :)

Luckly the savage has an adjustable trigger pull. With the accutrigger it won't go off by accident. Got it down to 1.5 lbs pull.
Take the gun outside and shoot (safely) out to 100 yds then to 200 yds. You'll be amazed at the accracy then! I've got a 3-9 x40 bushnell and gophers at 200yds don't stand a chance!

Good point, I did mean buy a qualified person (gunplumber):) My Bad

Gunplumber..... I like that :D
I had a so-called gunsmith adjust my trigger on a BSA .222 many years ago. Trigger pull was better, but the safety no longer worked
Darn, I miss that rifle. Used to cluster 5 shots into almost 1/4" @100yds all day long.

Needless to say, it did not impress me much.
