I had the Bushnell Trophy 6-18 x 40mm on my Savage 17 HMR and thought it worked very well. You could really dial into the target. Some guys might think it’s to much power but I didn’t mind. To each his own I guess...
I have had problems with the Tasco Varmint in that the adjustable objective eventually causes point of impact changes as the scope ages. My advice get a quality scope like Leupold or Burris and you will not have any problems. There is nothing worse than having a scope that you don't have complete confidence in.
Bushnell Banner .17 HMR. 3.5-10 power, and the elevation knob is calibrated for the drop of the bullet. The drop correction's not perfect, but it's still pretty close.
