.17 HMR; Stevens 310 vs Savage

I can't speak to the Stevens as I have no expereience with them... but we really like our Savage guns... build quality is good and accuracy has been excellent. There are also many mods available if you choose to tweak the guns some time.

I got the model 93 btvs in 22 mag for the wife. She loves it with the bipod, but a bit too heavy for stand up shooting. She is tiny though, I find it has a fair bit of heft, and would certainly where thin during a long day of stand up shooting for certain.

The bolt could use a little polishing, as you can see some of the machine work, but the rest of the gun just feels very good and solid. Lots of quality in it. We have yet to shoot it. Hoping to get out this week...but I said that two weeks ago.

Bought my wife the savage 93R17 GV-XP, what a tack driver, first experience with the accu trigger and all I can say is crisp. It comes with the cheap bushnell 3-9x40, I walked out of wholesale sports with the rifle and two boxes of shell for about $300. Just keep in mind to 17hmr shells are about $15 a box, and 22mag is about $10. The savage shoots MOA pretty consistently. Bolt felt pretty mechanical until you run couple hundred rounds through it then smoothed out.
