17 hmr

I have a Savage .17 HMR that I have purchased from Gagnon and have shot up to 150 yards with results that I've been very pleased with. I would strongly recommend a Savage!

I've got a 93R17, which I bought at Gagnon's. I just wish I had the opportunity to have gotten the accutrigger! Aside from that, it's an awesome little rifle. I'm going to be putting 500 rounds through it next week.

Thanks for all the info guys...I found one. I need to get a scope for it. Any suggestions?I will be mostly shooting up to 100 +- yards all just punching wholes in paper. I do wont to be able to see the wholes throu the scope.

I would say at least a 6-24 power those little 17 caliber holes are hard to see

I'd really like to hear more about that gun when you get it. Mind posting pics? Review?[/QUOTE]

I finally had a chance to have a look at my new Zastava. Man, what a nice rifle. The piece of lumber is a very very nice and dark piece of walnut. Blueing is still great, trigger very nice and adjustable "be careful with the adjust screws, they are soft". What a bargain. It also came with 2 steel magazines. I have put a Nikon Buchmaster 4.5 to 14 X 40mm on it and i have a great marmot slayer. Thank's Zastava for such a good value. Now time to shoot it.

Have you had a chance to shoot it at the range? Just wondering how that scope was working out?Could you see your holes in the paper at 100 yards?

Hey Bach~seeing "your holes" at 100 yards is part magnification, part scope quality. A decent scope in about the 14-16x range will do it. A crappy scope in the 18x (and up) will accomplish the same with more eye fatigue and a side order of regret. :)

Kidding aside, on the lower end of the scale I like the Mueller APT. I have one on my .22WMR. Biggish scope, but that 30mm tube lets in allot of light;

The Hawke Varmint SF scopes have a great reputation for quality/value, but I've never owned one. Tried to, my local dealer wanted too much for one. I DID just buy a Vortex Crossfire II and think it's a VERY nice scope for the money. Mine is a 4-12x40 AO with the BDC reticle, but they offer it in a 6-18x44 AO, a scope I'll be looking at seriously if I get back into the HMR scene again.

If Vortex would make they're Crossfire IIs with side focus, I'd be very happy but for the price, I'm impressed with mine so far. Comparable quality to my Vortex Viper HS.
