.17 Hornet by Hornady

Love the "WE" from the second slug in the video.
WE took the taper out of the case, WE necked it down.

It's the .17 Ackley Hornet, inna nutshell.

And it's been around in one form or another for a very long time.

Lotsa load info around, lotsa data for what to do to make an accurate rifle for it, too.

Hopefully the makers don't stick a huge, long throat on the chambers.

Having some dies available for reasonable prices, as well as off-the-shelf empty cases, is great, though.

It may be a buck a round for loaded ammo, but it's 650-700 or more reloaded rounds to a pound of powder. :D

Looking forward to the sorting out of the details, and maybe ordering a reamer to suit!

Cheers

I'm curious if anyone other than Savage is looking at producing rifles. The .17 HMR took off because enough gun makers started chambering it from the get go. Hopefully Hornady will get Ruger in on this at the ground floor like they did with the HMR, but I think this one is destined to be the next 17 Mach 2. I'll stick with my Ruger Hornet for right now.

If I didn't already have a 17FB I would be taking a long hard look at one of these. The 17 cal bullets definitely take a little finesse to reload with, but it's doable.
