170 grain 308 and 30/06 loads

That's a odd weight. More common is 165 or 180. Old projectile? I will look in Waters pet loads.

Vol ii, had no 170gr recipes. Will look in vol I in light. That one might have some old loads, prehistoric bullets and long discontinued powders.

You might just try a starting load for 165/168gr, work up. What bullet and powder are you wondering about?

Remembered to look in pet loads #1. None, it literally is the first in #2.

If this is a 30/30 bullet, its designed for 2100-2300/ft sec. If your wanting to duplicate a 30/30 out of a 308/06, my first thought would be searching cast loads for those. Powders which should work are 4198, and perhaps 4895. If you don't have them, good luck finding any.

Be very careful, and use someone's safely developed loads. It's counter intuitive, but reduced loads can develop extremely high pressures.

I'd say use the 168gr loads

Thx I’m gonna just stick with 165 and 168 apparently these bullets are ok for faster velocity according to hornady but it’s just easier to get rid of them

For 200 yard shooting the 170gr bullets will do fine in either calibre. IMR 3031 in the .308 and several in the 06 using 180gr data. What powders do you currently have to work with? Might be easier to just sell them or trade for what you want.
