Had a great 2 days in the gopher patch. Met the rancher on the way into the lane, his comment was "what took you?". Good start, I had replaced a 8-32 scope with a 2.5-6 that had been on the gun. Before I got a target up the ground was covered in rodents. I thought the scope would still be close, it was dead on. In the heads up race between the Rem. 541 and my partners CZ 455V it was a draw. It turned into a 1200+ rd. day each. We both had a 22 hornet along but they never got out . We had a great time & I hope you all can experience the same sometime! Good shooting-Aj

Sounds like a good day. Massive piles of empty casings make me giddy for some reason.

I have a ton stashed away as well. Shhh don't tell anyone. I remember 4+ years ago there was millions of gophers around now I'm lucky to see enough to count on one hand.

But I also dream of fields of targets like that, It seems like Groundhogs are making a bit of a comeback this year, Got 3 myself so far.

The 3 farms I hunted groundhogs on back in the late 80's had a pile of groundhogs when I hunted there. I shot 26 one day after work. We use to shoot a pile of starlings and grackles too. I was by there a couple years back and the farmer said he hadn't seen a groundhog for a couple of years. Lots of coyotes thou.

I love the mini mags and have a couple cases. Like I said, my partner shooting hp Win kept up with me no problem. Our shots were 2 yds to 80. He also shot a carton of PMC hp that were ok but smelt like glue or solvent. I was sure glad when'd they were done .
