....

My deadline is getting here in 1-2 weeks!
Can't wait.
Edit : I am going into this blindly, or sort of. Would of loved to see it in person before committing, was not possible. So like yourself, I relied on internet reviews and comments, which we're mostly in favor for this action.

This is my current build, I have ordered deadline action and MDT ESS middle section (the base), so I will keep barrel, brake, handguard, buttstock.
Build will look pretty much the same, except will have a deadline action in the middle of it all instead of a savage action.

Nice build Marty. Very similar to this all Canadian build these guys are doing and raffling:

Nice build Marty.

I'm going to be sticking with a Manners/Mcmillan stock (chassis are not my thing), Badger M5 dbm, either Bix n' Andy or Trigger Tech trigger.

Thanks!
I must admit,
If ever doing a 2nd ultimatum build next year, it will be in a camo McMillan.
For 2nd build i was thinking no mag cutout (3 action screws), un-threaded 26-28” 308 barrel, probably a NF SFP scope.
Something to go play around at my local 900M range with, as they don’t seem to allow muzzle brakes, from my very limited knowledge and perspective.
If going something un braked, may as well go something FTR compatible, with still a hint of tactical in it (mcmillan camo stock)

There are lots of ifs and maybes before a 2nd build gets up and running.
Very happy with 1st none the less

I am patiently waiting for your review/accuracy tests Marty!

I am also excited to see results!
1. My rifle is already sub 1/2 moa, 5 groups of 5 shots at 200M, I do not expect an action can tighten this any better, maybe a tiny bit being stiffer with built in recoil lug and smaller ejection port.
2. I expect action to be much more smoother, as in cycling the bolt. Having a rem 700 foot action also opens up stock/chassis possibilities, and custom trigger possibilities too.

Marty,

What's the bolt knob on that Deadline ? Doesn't look like the stock one that comes on it.

What you see is a savage.
Savage and ultimatum both share same barrel.
I will dissassemble savage setup as pictured, recycle barrel, brake, buttstock, and handguard,
And will install on a fresh MDT ESS ultimatum base (middle portion of ESS), fresh ultimatum action, and fresh trigger tech diamond

My McGowen 260AI 7 twist prefit came in to let me complete my Deadline build. Just got out today to sight in and start on load work out.

Super gentle recoil and shows very promising accuracy.

The 7 twist was to start testing the 152gr Matrix and 150gr Sierra MK's.

Should make for a nice 2000yds ELR rig... at least, that is the distance goal.

If I can help with a package build, please pm or email. Lots of options in barrels, triggers, etc to complete.

Jerry

Nice build Jerry, MDT ESS + Ultimatum are one of my favorite combos right now.
Does the NV rail obscure or blur in the scope whatsoever?
You also seem to have some type of cut-out in front of your cheekpiece, what's that about?

I thought the rail would obscure but so far it doesn't. I will put on taller rings regardless as I want to cant the scope much more for ELR plinking. But this was quick as it came off another rifle and lets me send some lead downrange... and to see if the NV rail would be a problem.

The cutout in the cheekpiece allows the bolt to be removed from the action without removing the cheekpiece. Now that you "see" it, you will find it in a variety of composite and chassis.

On the savage action it is not required to remove the bolt.
Now that my ESS base and ultimatum are coming from you, i will probably have to do this little mod.

I'm a big fan of the switch barrel concept. I currently have one built on a Rem 700 action that the guys at Insite did for me. It sits in a MDT ESS and has a 6mm creedmoor barrel, a .308 barrel and a .223 barrel and bolt for high volume practice. Changeover takes me about 10 minutes or so and I can do it at home or at the range. Funny enough my 6mm and .223 zero are almost identical, .308 is about a mil off but I've noted them all down and so it's real quick to re-zero after swapping a barrel. I've got an ARC Nucleus inbounds as well and have a 6 creed barrel for it and plan on getting a .223 barrel and bolt face as well as a 7 saum barrel and bolt face and maybe a 6.5x47L as well.
