175gr 7mm rem mag for deer?

A bit after the fact but the Swift Scirocco's in 7mm 150gr are a bonded high BC (.515) well constructed bullet.

It will hold together at high velocities(3200 ft/sec +) and not created giant holes. It will be flat shooting and retain energy better than heavier bullets.

Remington offers them as premium ammunition and if you are into numbers ,Remington factory loads they retain more energy are flatter shooting and faster than all of the other factory loads from 140-175gr.

Would they work as a good Antelope round?

Absolutely, I use them for coyotes and up!

Their website shows the expansion at certain velocities, at antelope distances they would make a nice through and through 1/2" hole.

I use them in two different 7mm's and one .270.

Very happy with the accuracy as well.

The Hornady Superformance GMX 139gr shoots flatter to 500 yards, and the Superformance interbond 154gr load has more energy at 500 yards.

I'll have to try out the Remington's and Hornady's out of my rifle and see which ones she likes better. Gonna have to do lots of shooting next summer in advance of the trip.

Imo a 7mm mag is overkill for white tail regardless of bullet wt. However if a 7mm mag was the only rifle I had ........... I'd shoot deer with it.

Interesting comment....

so, say a 270 pushes a 140 at 3000,most will....most 7 Mags will push a 140 at 3200 some faster, mine does 3300,....so the 270 is good for deer but by adding 200-300 fps velocity it's somehow overkill?...

you would have to explain that one to me.
