Any infos on using the 178gr eldx in a 308 win , in a rifle that hasn't got altered throat or twist?

I have a good supply of said 178gr , an looks like they will get a run in the Franchi at some stage down the track..

It would be a mild to low load of Varget that will use an shots will be under 200meters.

Any downside to this-
Apart from being longer it will take up powder space , though they won't be full loads to begin with. 🤷

I can't see much of a drama with this combo?
Cheers

I've used it in a few of my precision 308's. Over Varget, 4064, and a couple of surplus powders. Worked fine. - dan

178 ELDX over 42.7gn Varget in Lapua brass is my hunting load in a 11” twist Tikka Superlite. No issues with longer COAL because of the one-size Tikka action of course. It’s accurate and while I haven’t done it, legal for bison in BC at 2550 fps muzzle velocity of that charge.

178g ELDX is my hunting load using varget, running 2570.
Shoots extremely well out of my Tikka t3 11 twist. I took a buck at 186 yards this year and he went maybe 10 yrds. Entrance and (exit about 1.5 inch)

178 ELDX 42.4 Varget, Peterson brass makes clover leafs @ 100yds with my T3X.
Not the fastest load out there but works pretty darn good.
They were under $0.50 each when I started loading them.
Think I paid 85c for the last few boxes I bought.
####e is getting too expensive.
