17HMR Ammo purchase

My experience hasn't been very good with the TNT ammo. Not as accurate as regular CCI 17 grain pills.
Mind you this is just two boxes (100 rounds) worth of shooting through a savage 93R17BTV.

When I had a 93 mine shot federal tnt better then cci and hornady very well.
My cz 452 shoots the tnt very well as well as pretty much anything offered from cci, hornady, federal. The a17 shoots the worst of the bunch.

I am hoping for more splat effect over accuracy. What kind of accuracy where you getting?

In my 2 hmr's the tnt can launch them off the ground if you hit em in the right place.

If you don't hit them, there is no splat. I find that the 17gr v-max splats ground squirrels just fine to about 150 yards, after that, the 17 hornet makes a lot more mess. I tried four different loads in my Cooper, and the CCI with 17gr v-max, and the Remington 17gr load are the most accurate in my rifle, with Hornady the least accurate. The A-17 loads rupture the case where the firing pin strikes, about 20% of the time.

I've yet to see good results in my own shooting with A17 ammo in bolt actions, which is disappointing because the extra velocity would be a nice bonus.

My HMR likes the 17g Hornady just fine, but likes the 16g CCI "green" TNT the absolute best. I bought a bunch from WSS when they had one of their ammo sales. Would have bought more if I had known that WSS was about to shut it's doors. :bangHead:
