.17hrm ammo cost

what are people paying in average for a box of 50 .17hrm. I am thinking about picking one up but was just wondering what the cost of ammo is and how readily available it is also.

It is about $11-$12.50 per box of 50. It can be found all over, at least where I live.

I would recommend the .22 Magnum. IMO, it is more powerful as a hunting cartridge and ammo is cheaper and just as readily available.

the price has been rising pretty dramatically recently.

It's cheaper to reload for a small centerfire if you hang on to your brass

I wonder about a 17 wildcat from a 32 long case? Or 38 special?

There's a 17 based on a 30 carbine case (think it's called a PeeWee), and another based on the 357 case.
