17M2 thread~tell me what gun you have, how it shoots, what you use it for, etc. :)

That is one of the bonuses to owning the Ruger, if I can't find ammo, I'll just put an lr barrel on it.

The nice thing about shooting the 17mach2 over the 17HMR, is that you can save the price of a barrel very quickly. I have already saved about $700, and by the time that I run out of 17mach2 ammunition, I will have saved close to $3000. I can rebarrel my rifle to 22lr, and still be well over $2000 ahead.

Precious few photos...and no dead, HM2'd gophers. What gives? :)

Keep it coming guys...great inspiration. Haven't PM'd anyone trying to buy their rifles. :) Have a couple in mind though...

Once upon a time, I had some of these little guns in 17M2 - the funnest little toy that ever could be used on squirrels. Yeah - antique status - no - I don't have any to sell. It was the fussiest bit of work that I've ever done - getting them to work perfectly. Every one of those has a different set of problems to work through - and about half of the ones that I bought were not usable. They seemed to be as accurate as guy can hold - with a new .17 liner in the barrel and cylinder chambers. There are about 12 of them out there but I don't know where. The energy of the M2 out of one of these is about the same as a 22 short out of a rifle.

Quite an experience making them - it took all the patience that I could muster - of course they were very cheaply made from factory. One of them was unfired from new - no wonder - it was a half hole out of time - it was culled. If I remember right, about half of them just didn't make the grade to get converted - for one reason or another.

A very nice CZ452 American in 17M2 here, I don't use it often, mainly because of ammo rarity. I still have only a few thousands on hand.
If I get dry on ammo I'll sell it to you.

I don't mind the Marlin but will probably get another savage with the regular barrel and the accutrigger-just cause.
I have a regular stock blued barrel Marlin also but with a Redfield on it.
