I'm sure it's been asked 400 times, the search function doesn't work for me, for some unknown reason.
Anyway, my 870 has a 26" Vent rib barrel, great for skeet shooting, but I find it uncomfortable to use hunting..
Would anyone know where to get a Shorter barrel, like a sponsor of this website who offers a good price on such an item?
Thanks, KP.

Put an ad in the Equipment exchange. The 20 inch with rifle sights is nice and can be had used for around $125. You could also buy a second longer barrel and chop it yourself and install a new bead but if you want sights it might be best to see if someone has one for sale with the Rem rifle sights already installed...

Edit, I see you already posted a wanted to buy.....good luck!

retail 870 barrels are somewhat overpriced. also, most 18-18.5" barrels are going to be cylinder bore/IC and not tapped for chokes, so theyre not really suitable for hunting.

check the EE for take-off barrels. or, buy a Remington 870 Express Trio, keep the barrel you need, and sell the rest of it on the EE.

Some of the 870 Tacticals had 18" barrels threaded for chokes and equipped with a bead sight I think. I'd put a WTB ad on the EE with what you're looking for. I've had really great success with finding what I was wanted. Chokes can be added by a competent smith for a relatively affordable price, if you get a used barrel for a good price it could be an economic option.

i doubt many are going to sell the 870 tactical barrel, since its the entire point of getting that gun, and if they do theyll want >$200 for it im sure.

the 870 Express Trio has a 23", plain, smoothbore, fiber optic sighted turkey barrel threaded for chokes. the entire Trio is $535. you could keep the barrel and part out the rest of the package on the EE and pretty much get the barrel almost free.

another option is to just take your 28" vent rib barrel to your gunsmith and have it shortened/threaded for remchokes. 18.5" vent rib barrels actually look pretty sweet, i have one on my 20 gauge.

"...uncomfortable to use hunting..." Hunting what?
870 barrels don't have to have Remington stamped on 'em. Those tend to be more expensive than aftermarket barrels. Bought a 20" rifle sighted smooth bore from Goble's, here in London, for $200ish, taxes included, a couple years back.
Epp's is listing a 24" Hastings rifled barrel with a Picatinny style base at $215. And a 20" rifled Remington barrel with Mossy Oak camouflage at $299.

Hunting anything, i find it awkward to carry in general, it's 8 inches too long, I'm 5'9" tall, and I find the end of the barrel in the dirt more than anything.

Now if it was 20", it would be perfect.
