I realize that this is just baiting, but does anyone know of any 18.5" AR barrels that exist? In the event that the AR ever becomes NR (baiting
), Id like to own one. Has anyone bought a barrel that was 18.5" or 18.6"? If so what was the cost?
If the AR platform ever became de-restricted to NR status and only required a 18.5"+ barrel to be classed as an NR, I suspect there would be no shortage of these correct length barrels coming to this new market. I suggest you write your local MP etc. about your grievance of the AR not being NR.
Being someone who lives across from a u.s city and has friends and family who have ar's and i watch a lot of youtube american gun owners, yeah theirs 18inch barrels i'm not sure if they are 18.5 though if thats the problem.. 18 with a welded flash hider could work?
Is an 18 inch barrel not legal because it has to be over or perhaps i have no idea what im talking about. I do know that many 18 inch barrels exist and infact would be my choice of an ar length if i ever built myself an ar15.
Any AR-15 Variant is RESTRICTED ... does not matter how long the barrel is.
18 with a welded flash hider could work?
If the AR were moved from the restricted by name category to NR or restricted by length, yet current barrel regulations still applied, it would have to be 18.5" prior to the addition of a flash hider (even if it's welded). The only way around this is to make the flash hider integral to the barrel, aka all one piece like what some of the guys doing the NR ACR conversions have had done.
Ok thanks for the clarification i forgot if it was 18 or 18.5 for the n.r restriction (yeah i should know this i just got my p.a.l so leave me alone,(been shooting my dads and friends guns)
. Ofcourse i knew ar's are restricted or else i would have 5 by now, no where did i say any ar15's are non restricted
So all the 18 inch barrels available now in the u.s are 18 inch and not 18.5? Because 18 (or are they 18.5) inch barrels are pretty common on ar's in the u.s.
I thought the a.r barrels are 18.5 too , because of all the many 18.5 rifles we have that are non - restricted.
Isn't a pinned and welded flash hider the same as an integral flash hider in the barrel?
Isn't a pinned and welded flash hider the same as an integral flash hider in the barrel?
At the risk of playing devils advocate, why would it have to be 18.5"? There are guns like the 94 trapper that come from factory with 16" barrels that are NR, as long as the gun in its shortest configuration is 26" OAL in theory it should still be NR, that is assuming the AR ever gets looked at as a NR gun and that the feds don't pull more BS out of their hats to screw us over yet again.
Why do I see so many USA guys run long barrel ars? Like 18 inch?
Don't forget about the short barreled rifle rules in the USA.... Don't they have to pay a $200 fee to register/transfer a rifle with a barrel length of under 16" or something? I imagine that would contribute to a plethora of ARs with >16" barrels.
