180b - are they still making them?

Nope, been out of production since late '08/ early '09.

Only way you'll find one is on the secondhand market, either already in Canada, or you might find one on an American website like Gunbroker, and have it imported by someone like IRUNGUNS.

As far as price goes, it's been quite a while since I looked, but pricing was averaging in the $1600-1800 range last time I looked.
 
First time I've ever heard of it happening. The breakage heard most often to happen on these is the front hinge breaking, as the lower is polymer, and letting the upper swing open puts unnecessary forces onto said hinge. Just don't let the gun swing open, and you should be all right.
 
IMHO the 180b is in no way a $1300 rifle.
New or used.

I paid $800 for a new one a few years ago and even at that price.... I was disappointed.

Bolt carrier rail welds failed immediately rendering the rifle inoperable.
After the upper was replaced I found the rifles minute of pie plate accuracy frustrating
Cheesy plastic butt stock broke after little use.
The trigger is craptastic.
The USD Retail price at the time was closer to realistic.

I have put many rounds downrange in mine and never had a problem, I bought mine used. Maybe you had a bad egg? But I will say I treat it like it is an egg. I do not like things made out of polymer. And I am scared of breaking it all the time lol. IIRC you can put AR-15 triggers into it.
