....

If I wanted a pencil barrel 6.5creed based on a Remington action, I would just buy the new model 7 that comes in a HS stock and save some money.

Specifications – Remington Model Seven SS HS Precision
Order Number: 6.5 Creedmoor – 85971
Magazine Capacity: 4 rounds
Barrel Length: 20 inches
Overall Length: 39.25 inches
Barrel Material: Stainless steel

Not what you asked, just my $0.02

I’m a little $$ Budget challenged so I pulled the 7mm-08 barrel off an SPS 700 Stainless and sold it here on the EE Forum. Then I screwed a 260 Rem take off barrel that I bought on here for $100. My local guardian angel gunsmith cut and step crowned it to 18.5”. Now it’s my lightweight Hunter for deer.

It loves to print 3 rounds or 140 gr SST Hornady booolits into a quarter at 100m. Then I pulled off that Bushnell 10 x 40mm Mildot that I used for testing and replaced it with a Vortex Sparc2 for fall deer. This baby shoots better than I can hold it!

Get what works for you and your:

* budget
* booolit desire
* game being sought after
* passion for rifle brand
* LCV ( looks cool value)
* local market or availability or inventory
* and finally, your ego!

It’s gotta work for you when you are pushing bush on the drive or parked in the deer stand

Cheers, Barney

Yeah hopefully.

Seen any available in Canada yet ? Just checked a couple sites and no go so far.

I haven't. I would expect prophet River will be one of the earliest ones. Curious to see what they sell for up here, the normal stainless/synthetics are in the low nines from epps.

^^^ I found this post from a few days ago in a different thread.

Hey guys!

Nick here from Reliable, I am a big fan of the Sevens. I have the SS HS on order in a few different calibers so reach out to me if you would like one.

I have personally have one in 7mm-08, a custom barreled one in 358(my favorite and go to rifle) and have just sent off another Seven action to International Barrels (IBI) because they have a 338 Federal reamer in bound. If you have any questions please let me know!

For sometime now have wanted to build a Remington 700 6.5cm lighter weight hunting rig.

- short action 700
- Trigger tech Special with Pro-curved trigger
- Gre-tan firing pin & shroud
- McMillan hunter stock (whatever model the light thin profile one is on my .308 McMillian rig, think it's the hunter model)
- Pachmyer recoil pad
- Talley light weight mounts
- probably a Leupold VX3i of some sort

just need to decide on a barrel. Thinking 22 or 24" (probably 22") but want a thin contour like Remington 700 SS Mountain rifle. Who do you recommend for a really slim 6.5cm barrel ?

Thanks for the advice guys.

I recently read a write-up on the Rifle Shooter Magazine regarding the new Remington Model Seven SS-HS, black stock with green spider-webbing, stainless steel receiver and barrel. The author shot various factory loads, many were under one inch, some around 1/2 inch, three shot groups.

I bought one of those cheap stainless 600$ rem 700 adl's in 243 win recently, bedded it is very accurate with 80 ttsxs. The factory trigger adjusted nicely to 2.5lbs as well. It's nice to see Remington putting some decent stocks/offerings out again. This model 7 looks like a winner. I would have preferred to see it in a 22-23" barrel however.

I've screwed a few MR barrels on m7's over the years, and the extra 2" made them point a lot nicer than the 20".
On that note, a bunch of m7's were sent with 22" barrels, even with the box marked 20" so a guy may luck out... Lol

I rebarreled a Browning LH X-Bolt All Weather to get my 6.5 Creedmoor. (This after Browning announced that they would not be building the LH All Weatherin 6.5 CM after initially anouncing the availability of that model in that cartridge)
I used a 24" Benchmark 5R stainless barrel in #3 contour. It is fairly light, but not as light as the Remington mountain rifles I have owned, which I find do not balance as well or hold as steady.
It is proving to be extremely accurate with various factory loads (1/2 to 1 MOA) ranging from 120 to 143 grain bullets. Very happy with it!
