Benchmark is incorrect for the slug weight. Varget is suitable. A 5 grain variation in slug weight is negligible assuming safe loading protocol is followed. Some slugs with equivalent weight have very different bearing surface areas, and folks don't think twice when interchanging.
Also, if you aren't using a chronograph when testing, then your worries of "product waste" due to 185 grain weight not being in the book are mis-spent.
For varget, start at 40gr and go up, aiming for 2600 Vo based on a 24" barrel.
