So, I've had this Pietta 1851 Navy for about 15 years. I used to plink with it, and do some cowboy shooting. Because the sights were a front bead and the v notch in the hammer, accuracy was never really great. I had a spare barrel for it, so I decided to mount real sights to see how it would do. I cut front and rear dovetails, and put in a blade front and notch rear. After some filing and drifting I got it to shoot well from the bench at 15 yards. I moved the target back to 25 yards, and fired these 3 shots offhand with a two hand hold. I was shocked!!!! This rusty, pitted old gun shot better than any of my cartridge pistols. About a 1" group at 25 yards. The load is 20gr Goex fffg, cylinder topped off with cream of wheat, .375 round ball, bear grease over the cylinders and a CCI #11 cap.
