rolling papers

I have on I hove discovered that if you go to your local pot head shop they sell all types of rolling papers. The ones I like best are hemp paper and twice the size of normal rolling papers. If you ask for the largest and thickest papers they have you will be in bussiness. These papers are already treated, burn completely and one will be sufficent for a 54Cal.

.... so just dissolve black powder in water until you have a concentrated solution and soak the paper in that. The charcoal will settle out as a black powder on the bottom of the bowl.cheers mooncoon
Now, that`s something I had not thought about...Great idea!...I buy my nitrated paper from Track of the Wolf, but if I ever need to make my own, this would do it....I find it impossible to find ringtailed bullets, so I just tie the paper cartridge to bullet (over the first grease groove to hold the paper in place)....Use RWS muskets caps, I find the CCI musket caps to be garbage....

I used news paper mixed a slurry solution of black powder and water painted it on with a brush let it dry it seemed to mostly burn out but was a pain in the butt to make them I found it easier to take a lubed bullet drop it in tap with a wood dowl just to hold bullet in the rifling the poured in some cream of wheat to take up a bit of space then 60gr ffg to fill the chamber close her up and away you go just make shure no air space . mine is a 54 cal. will post a few pics of the bullets when I get a chance

I've done this recently.

No air space? How can you accomplish that with this rifle? There's that big space around the central fire hole nipple...

Not wanting to deal with the paper issue, I tried pouring in 60 and then 70 grains of FFG BP substitute. It worked fine and is very accurate. Just the powder in loose from my bp powder measure, almost flush with the chamber, then close the breech.

I use a dowel to push the bullet in till it hits the rifling.

After a bit of getting used to it, it's a nice setup.
