1866 Yellowboy by Uberti

Last year I bought one in 45 Colt. I have always wanted one of these guns and finally got one. Last year it served me well and I have had no problems. I have met one cowboy that stated his daughter had one and her frame had stretched and was causing malfunctions. I have not experienced any problems what so ever with mine however.

I've been using one in .45Colt for a few years.
Great rifle, slick action straight from the box.
A "stretched" action as mentioned by bersmith above, may indicate too many heavy loads were used in it.

The only drawback to the 66 that I know of ,is that they do not have a lever safety lock as per the 73, it is possible that the 66 could fire before the lever is completely closed. The older Uberti 66s had more drop in the stock than the 73, however in the last few years, I believe, that they use the same butt stock.
Hope this helps.

Yelowboy Is a Timeless Favourite Eh

This Uberti Win 66 clone is one of the best for all sorts of applications: SASS, fun plinking or as a practical vintage hunting rifle. I got one of these in 1970 and kept it until the late 70s when I presented it to my brother-in-law in memory of his Dad and my father-in-law who had died two weeks before his wedding. His Dad had an original Win 66 in the 1930s during the Great Depression when he used it for putting meat on the table. The brass reciever and well deep blued parts made it suitable for engraving. When I had it I used it to shoot about 200 rounds of 44-40 in target and for moose hunting at under 50 yards in VERY Thick NW Ontario bush. Brass receiver is highly reflective as a hunting rifle but then so were the originals. I really liked it as a carry gun and the saddle ring and thong worked well to hang the rifle up by the door when I was out in "Gods Country"...long before FACs which I recall started around 1978 or so. My brother-in-law still has his Uberti Win 66; it has become a family heirloom as he has had it for his 35 years of marriage. It is the only rifle he has; he recently bagged a coyote with it at a measured distance of 128 yards.
Yes Virginia that laddered sight really does work. The front sight is coarse but you just put WHAT you want to hit on the TOP of the sight which is quick to acquire. Its a Keeper EH!
