Looks like the remains of a short rifle. Barrel isn't cut, but the stock is altered fore and aft, and the bayonet lug has been removed. If the bore is good, and action sound, it would be a useful shooter.
But the value is compromised. I can't see it bringing more than a couple of hundred dollars, if it is a shooter.

It appears to be a cut down sporter made from a 2 band short rifle (it has a steel trigger guard and butt plate). Barrel might be uncut and still original length. Rear sight is missing, is the barrel rifled or smooth bore?

Value? Its collector value is low to zero due to the modifications, so sell as a parts donor (lotsa good parts there) or as a fun shooter. $100-200??

I agree on the $100 price range. I have in my possession, (holding for a friend while he goes through some legal stuff), an 1861 with full wood, all original, rifled barrel that he paid $125 for. He could probably double his money, but not much more. I have seen VG+ ones with original parts and matching numbers got for $1000-$1200 or so.

If the lock is in good shape and complete, that's already worth $100. Check for comparables in the antique section in the EE...

there is no 1861 sniders all were made after 1865 the date you are seeing is the date on the lock that came from a p1853 Enfield rifled musket with full wood and in decent shape its worth $500+

I posted it on the CGR auction page.
This gun is nice but it doesn't fit in my collection.
I'd rather see it go in the hands of an enthusiast that will use it than just sitting in my gun shack collecting dust.

Thanks for the help guys
I'm just starting into rifle collecting and I have lots to learn.

I stand corrected on that. I admit, I don't know much about them. I don't think this one is worth the $500 mark. It is at best fair shape. Mechanically, it is in good shape, but the lock and barrel has surface rust. One barrel band is tightened as much as possible, but the wood has shrunk, so it moves when you handle it and the ram/cleaning rod spdoes not screw into the stock and is kinked on top of it. Probably make a decent shooter, though...

oil and 0000 steel wool lightly for the rust on the barrel and give the stock some boiled linseed oil any full stock British snider is worth $500+ depending on condition
