1873 or Henry side gate

You say “collection” so I say look for a good ‘86 Winchester in .33 WCF as they are still affordable or a reproduction in .45-70. I love a ‘73 in .44-40 but if planning to shoot a modern caliber, in a lighter carbine, then consider a model ‘92 reproduction. Lots of great choices, depends on what you want one for.

I have both. I gotta say the Henry i take out more because I feel I can "careless" about it. The 73 is a bit too nice to handle carelessly. Also weightwise 73 is lighter. If you think 73 is the ultimate goal get it since it is nicer and will be a joy to look at always. Henry for workhorse.

Need to fill the gape of no levers in my collection
Should I pick up a 73 or a modern Henry?
Careful, they are addictive.
I wanted one for the same reason, now somehow I have a whole safe full of them.... (Marlins and Winchesters)

No levers? At all? Scandalous.

Either will work. I prefer the 73 for looks. I prefer loading through the tube instead of a side gate though. So my Henry Big Boy is probably my favorite to shoot.
