1883 winchester

[ron hilchey]

My daughter's boyfriend brought this rifle over last night. Seems to be an 1883 Winchester made in 1884. 45/70 cal. Was thinking of getting some Trail Boss powder and heading to the range. He wants to try black powder, but I have no experience with the stuff.

It's actually a 3rd model Winchester - Hotchkiss Musket. It looks like it's all there and good condition. These are hoot to shoot and Winchester's only bolt action .45-70 and Winchester's first bolt action rifle.
Have fun.
