I have a model 1884 springfield trap door I'm looking for some info on. Gun came from an estate and I know nothing about it. Any idea of the value of it?

Checked the serial number looks like it was manufactured 1888 and it has the Buffington rear sight. I just bought an original graded as very good, I paid $750.00USD - depending on bore condition etc you could probably get between $200 - $400USD

Here are pics of the one I just bought.

.

In this area, you would be looking at $700 - $800 Cdn and perhaps more, especially if the Buffington sight is in good condition. I think a lot of Buffington sights are loose in the sense that they swing sideways because of worn threads. That begs the question; have any of you ever managed to repair the worn threads that allow for lateral adjustment ?
