So I am expecting to get a bonus here in the next few weeks or possibly have an actual tx return and the " Boss " has given the go ahead to pick up a new gun as long as the credit card is paid off first lol. So I feel like I need an 1885 in 45-70 and I am curious what the knowledgeable peoples opinions are on the uberti's compared to an actual browning or winchester ?

I have originals & one Browning . They are great , so I can recommend them . I do not have or want the Uberti copies.
You may have good luck with them , but I know other shooters with Uberti products that have needed to do work on them , either
repairs or modifications to make them "Right" .
Saving a little more $$ to get a better product is always rewarding . ,,,,,,,,,,,, Frank

A friend always says ,,,,, " Price Forgotten , but quality Never".

The C Sharps and the Uberti are closer to the originals, if that matters to you. The Browning and Winchester guns are similar looking, on the outside, sorta, but not much like the originals, other than being a single shot rifle.

Your call.

Cheers

I am not too certain if the close to original or new and improved is much of a consideration as of yet. I do very much like the looks of them all and think the uberti's that I've seen certain appear to be very nice , but i wonder if the difference in initial cost is really worth it for a person who's going to shoot them for fun and recreation and maybe the odd hunt compared to the person who is going to use them for BPCR competition

I have an 1885 high wall in 45-70 by Winchester Miroku. I looked at other company's for the same price or higher they were all nice guns. The Winchester has a stronger action and I bought it for hunting and well it's a "Winchester" all kidding aside if you do not shoot Ruger loads out of it any of the other brands are great with options when buying them barrel length, wood and stock design, ect.
